At the first Coordination Committee meeting, the decision was made to organise a scientific conference titled ?International Meeting in Monaco on Fusion Energy? in the autumn.
This event aims to raise awareness among the general public to the value of this scientific programme and among economic players and policymakers to the opportunities it offers them today.
Four of the five post-docs selected in 2008 for scholarships also presented the results of their research in a concise entertaining way.
It should be mentioned that the agreement with ITER provides for a 5½-million-euro contribution by the Principality of Monaco over 10 years, including ?150,000 allocated annually to scientific conferences and ?400,000 to post-doctoral grants. This underscores the Principality's commitment to a promising project aiming to develop new technologies using nuclear fusion.
