2012 Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation's Award Ceremony

On Friday 12th October 2012, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation hosted its fifth award ceremony in the Science Museum in London.

Fundraising Dinner

H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco will chair an exclusive fundraising dinner on the evening of Thursday, October 11th which will gather over one hundred international supporters of the Foundation in the "Claridges Ballroom".

Award ceremony

Since 2008, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Awards have been presented to individuals who have made an exceptional commitment towards saving our planet.

Let us recall the message addressed by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco at the first edition of the event: "I wanted to create these Awards to lend my support to the exceptional women and men who have made a personal commitment to save our planet."

H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince will therefore honour several international key figures and organizations for their exemplary action in favour of the environment and the protection of the planet, in each of the Foundation's three priority fields of activity: climate change, the preservation of biodiversity, access to water and the fight against desertification. After Alain Hubert, Dr Jane Goodall and Sunita Narain in 2008, Professor Edward Osborne Wilson, Ms Marina Silva and Mr Pan Yue in 2009, Professor James Lovelock, Dr Peter Hamilton Raven and Professor Malin Falkenmark in 2010, Professor Gretchen Daily, Professor Andràs Szollosi-Nagy and Professor David Suzuki in 2011, the 2012 winners will be presented with a trophy created specifically for the occasion.

The fifth edition of the Award Ceremony will be sponsored by La Prairie and Philips.

Preview screening of Disneynature's film "Chimpanzee"

The 2012 Award Ceremony will also be the opportunity of a preview screening of Disneynature's latest film, Chimpanzee.

Since its inception, Disneynature has brought together the world's top nature filmmakers to capture emotive animal stories for the big screen, combined with a commitment to the environment. Over the past five years, Disneynature has supported numerous conservation projects across the globe, conserving ecosystems ranging from the tropical rainforest to the African savannahs.

Disneynature is continuing a three-year partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, working towards the shared goal of protecting the natural world for future generations to enjoy.
Chimanpzee will be released in cinemas across Europe in early 2013.

"La Prairie Award" Ceremony

La Prairie, in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, has established The La Prairie Award for Innovation in Marine Protection. It will recognize and support grassroots projects aimed at resolving environmental issues. The winner will be announced at the Foundation's gala annual award ceremonies, which will be held in London on 12 October 2012.

"Our collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is a perfect fit," says Patrick Rasquinet, President and CEO, La Prairie Group. "The Foundation's objective to advance environmental solutions and promote the sustainability of the earth's natural resources coincides with our own long-term commitment to marine preservation."

The "La Prairie Award" for Innovation in Marine Protection, will go to one of three initiatives which have been selected amongst the Foundation projects. Beyond the price, La Prairie will follow the projects closely, providing support in terms of exposure of their efforts. The final result of the La Prairie Award will be decided by an international jury - presided by Céline Cousteau - and a public on-line vote.

13th Board of Directors' Meeting

On the same day, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince will preside over the 13th Board of Directors meeting of Foundation.

This meeting will enable the Board members to examine the state of progress of projects supported by the Foundation, to approve the 2013 estimated budget and to examine new projects to be given support.

The presidents of the eight foreign offices of the Foundation will also participate in this meeting to present a point of development of these.
