H.S.H. Prince Albert II travels to Kenya

H.S.H. Prince Albert II shall be travelling to Nairobi, Kenya, for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Conference in which He is to take part alongside the President of the Republic of Kenya S. E. M. Uhuru Kenyatta and numerous authorities, on Thursday 26 June 2014.

Delegations from over 150 countries initiated week-long discussions on the links between global economic development and the environment.

The eleventh edition of UNEP's annual report examines ten new challenges identified in preceding reports published over the last ten years, including the issue of plastic waste in our oceans. The 2014 annual report provides an update on each topic as well as possibilities regarding action to be taken.

For the first time, H.S.H. the Prince will take part in His capacity as Chair of the IOC's Sport and Environment Commission in order to highlight the close relationship that exists between the authority and UNEP, bound together by twenty years of partnership.

The Prince will notably engage in discussions with Mr Keino, Chair of the Kenyan Olympic Committee and IOC member, and Mr Pau, Secretary of the Kenyan Olympic Committee.

The Sovereign will also take part in the "Global Ocean Commission" press conference.
