On Sunday, March 23, late in the morning, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene took part in the first edition of Road Safety Day. Organized by the Princess Charlene Foundation, this event dedicated to bicycle road safety and the promotion of soft mobility was held on the Esplanade of Larvotto Beach.
Throughout the day, numerous free activities allowed visitors to learn about and try out good cycling practices:
- An awareness village.
- A pump track, offering enthusiasts a space to learn and improve their cycling skills.
- A road safety circuit, designed to help young cyclists improve their reflexes and bike control in real-life conditions.
- The Monabike challenge, a sporting challenge aimed at encouraging cycling in urban areas.
Starting at 9:45 a.m., six teams made up of personalities and representatives of Monegasque institutions set off on a cycling relay across the Principality, riding through the streets for eight hours. Each kilometer covered helped raise public awareness of the importance of more responsible and safer mobility.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation would like to warmly thank all the partners who contributed to the success of this day: the Monegasque Red Cross, the Monaco Fire Brigade, the Monaco Public Security Department, BEKING, Monabike, the Prince's Carabiniers, as well as the many volunteers and athletes involved.
A huge thank you also goes to the participants, young and old, who made this event a unique occasion, marked by sharing, prevention, and sport.
Thanks to this collective commitment, Road Safety Day has now established itself as an unmissable event in the Principality for promoting safer and more sustainable mobility.
