On Saturday, 29 November, T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, accompanied by their children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, took part in the illumination ceremony of the Place du Casino, in the historic heart of Monte-Carlo, organised by the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM).
As night fell, under the fond gaze of their parents, the Princely children officially launched the light show, set to Christmas melodies. The monumental Christmas tree was illuminated first, followed by the five giant snow globes, before the façade of the Monte-Carlo Casino lit up in turn, offering the public a spectacular “Reindeer Show” combining sound and light.
The Princely Family, joined by Mr Stéphane Valeri, Chairman and CEO of SBM, and H.E. Mr Christophe Mirmand, Minister of State, then discovered the five giant snow globes that now adorn the Place du Casino. Designed as true music boxes, they illustrate the theme “The Magic of Christmas in Monte-Carlo”. Each globe features a vignette depicting the adventures of five little reindeer – Flocon, Rose, Hercule, Stella and Rudolph, Father Christmas’s faithful companion.
